Shock absorption is the most important functional feature that distinguishes a professional indoor basketball wooden floor from ordinary residential wooden floors, and it is a performance that can only be achieved through correct assembly. When a basketball player makes a powerful jump and lands on the court, the impact force generated can be several times their body weight. Without an effective shock absorption system built into the basketball wooden floor, all this force will be directly transmitted to the player’s feet, knees, and spine, leading to acute injuries like sprains, or chronic long-term injuries such as knee arthritis that can end an athlete’s career. The sleepers that are installed on top of these pads distribute the remaining impact force across a wider area, preventing any single point from bearing too much pressure. During the assembly process, the installer must make sure that every part of the shock absorption system is installed with consistent precision. The spacing between the sleepers must be exactly the same across the entire court, and every elastic pad must be placed in the correct position without being missing or deformed. If one part of the floor has more elastic pads than another, the shock absorption level will be different, which will make players feel an obvious difference when they run across the boundary between the two areas. This inconsistency can seriously affect the players’ performance and even cause unexpected injuries.
