The History of NB Brand Basketball Court Wooden Flooring: From Small Workshop to Global Industry Leader

The story of NB brand basketball court wooden flooring began in a small family-owned woodworking workshop in 1987, when a former college basketball player named Nathan Brooks decided that he could build a better basketball court surface than the low-quality warped wooden floors he had played on during his college career. Brooks spent three years experimenting in his workshop, testing different wood types and subfloor designs, until he created his first prototype NB court in 1990, which was installed at a local YMCA in his hometown. The players at that YMCA immediately noticed how much better the floor felt, and word of mouth about the incredible NB court spread rapidly through the local basketball community. By 1998, NB had grown enough to win its first major professional arena contract, installing its wooden flooring for a new major league basketball team’s home stadium, and the feedback from players and coaches was so overwhelmingly positive that the brand quickly began receiving orders from arenas across the entire country. In 2007, NB launched its international expansion program, and today NB brand basketball court wooden flooring is installed in over 40 countries around the world, from professional arenas in Europe to youth training centers in Asia. Despite growing into a global industry leader, the brand still maintains its original family-owned values, with every single court plank still inspected by a member of the original founding team before it is shipped out to customers, ensuring that the same attention to quality that defined the first 1990 prototype is present in every NB floor installed today.
