Maintenance and Care Guide for Modular Basketball Wood Flooring

Proper regular maintenance is the key to keeping modular basketball wood flooring in excellent condition for many years, and its design makes daily care far simpler than most people expect. For daily cleaning, all you need is a soft-bristled broom or a dry microfiber mop to sweep away loose dust, sand, and small debris that gets tracked onto the court by players’ shoes, preventing these particles from scratching the surface finish over time. Spills of water, sports drinks, or other liquids should be wiped up immediately with a slightly damp (not soaking wet) mop, as prolonged exposure to large amounts of moisture can damage the wood’s surface and lead to warping if left unattended. You should never use harsh chemical cleaners or wax products on the flooring, as these can leave a slippery residue on the surface that ruins the carefully calibrated friction level, making the court dangerous for players. Every few months, it is recommended to do a more thorough deep cleaning with a specialized pH-neutral wood floor cleaning solution designed for sports surfaces, applied with a low-speed floor polishing machine to gently remove built-up dirt without wearing down the protective finish. For areas that get extra heavy wear, like the spots directly under the baskets, you can inspect the panels once a year to check for any signs of surface wear, and if needed, apply a thin fresh coat of the non-slip finish to restore the original friction level. Thanks to the modular design, you never need to do a full sanding and refinishing of the entire court—if a small section shows signs of wear, you can simply remove those individual panels and re-finish or replace them, which saves a huge amount of time and money compared to maintaining a traditional full wooden court.
