One of the biggest challenges facing any indoor wood flooring product in China is the country’s wildly diverse range of climates. A floor that works perfectly in the mild, temperate weather of eastern China can warp and buckle completely in the 90%+ humidity of a Hainan summer, or crack and develop wide gaps during the -20°C, ultra-dry winters in Heilongjiang. To prove that NB Brand Basketball Court Wood Flooring could perform reliably anywhere in the country, the brand built long-term test facilities in four of China’s most extreme climate zones: Haikou for tropical high humidity, Harbin for frigid dry winters, Urumqi for massive daily temperature swings, and Chengdu for year-round damp, overcast conditions. The team monitored these test floors continuously for three full years, recording every small change in performance across every season.
In the Haikou test facility, where summer relative humidity regularly stays above 85% for weeks at a time, the NB floor showed zero signs of buckling or warping even after 36 months of exposure. This performance comes from NB’s full-seal moisture protection process, where every edge, groove, and back surface of each individual plank is coated with a waterproof polymer layer that blocks water vapor from ever penetrating into the wood fiber. By comparison, the generic control floor installed next to the NB test sample developed noticeable 5-millimeter raised warps along the seams after just 3 months of the rainy season. At the opposite end of the country in Harbin, where winter indoor humidity drops as low as 25% during heating season, the NB floor’s specially stabilized wood showed no surface cracking at all, with seam width changes limited to less than 0.8 millimeters, well within the safe range for athletic play.
Even in Urumqi, where daily temperature swings can exceed 22°C in the spring, the NB Brand Basketball Court Wood Flooring remained completely stable. After five years of continuous testing, the entire test court still had a surface flatness deviation of less than 1 millimeter across the full 28-meter length of the court. Venue operators in every corner of China have confirmed these test results in real-world use: a gym in northern Xinjiang reported zero issues with their NB floor after 7 years of use, a recreational center in Guangdong said their floor never once buckled during the wettest monsoon season, and a venue in Inner Mongolia noted that even during the extremely dry heating season, the gaps between planks never got wide enough to catch a player’s sneaker.
