Sports floors are installed using either fixed (anchored) or floating (suspended) systems, each with pros and cons. Fixed systems are bolted directly to the subfloor, offering maximum stability for high-impact sports like weightlifting. However, they require precise subfloor preparation and are less adaptable to moisture changes. Floating systems, supported by rubber pads or springs, excel in shock absorption and are easier to install or relocate. They also accommodate subfloor imperfections better than fixed systems. The choice depends on the venue’s primary use: basketball and volleyball favor floating systems for their elasticity, while gymnastics may require fixed floors for equipment anchoring. Hybrid systems combining both methods are also gaining popularity.
